Client: Emerald City Seventh-day Adventist Church
Project: 30th Anniversary & Transition of Pastor Eugene and Johnetta Lewis

The Challenge

Emerald City Seventh-day Adventist Church was preparing for a major milestone celebration honoring 30 years of leadership while also welcoming a new pastoral family.

The church needed a professionally designed program booklet that would:

  • Guide attendees through the day’s events
  • Celebrate the legacy of the outgoing pastor and wife
  • Introduce incoming leadership
  • Serve as a meaningful keepsake for the congregation and community

What began as a 10-page booklet quickly expanded into a 24-page commemorative piece with a tight three-week turnaround and multiple rounds of revisions.

The Strategy

The strategy focused on creating something that felt both elegant and deeply personal. The booklet needed to balance functionality with storytelling — serving as both an event guide and a commemorative piece attendees would want to keep long after the celebration ended.

The design direction centered on honoring the church’s identity, leadership legacy, and sense of community through thoughtful typography, color choices, and structured editorial layouts.

The Creative Solution

I led the design and coordination process from concept to print production.

The project included:

  • Discovery meetings to gather event details and content

  • Layout planning and editorial structure development

  • Coordination of photos, schedules, menus, and written tributes

  • Multiple revision rounds and content updates

  • Print-ready production management

The visual identity incorporated emerald green and gold tones to reflect both the church’s name and the significance of the 30th anniversary celebration. Elegant typography and structured layouts helped create a polished and commemorative experience.

The final deliverables included:

  • A 24-page commemorative booklet

  • Morning and afternoon event schedules

  • Food menus and celebration details

  • Keepsake note pages

  • Coordination of a 300-booklet print order plus additional programs

The Outcome

The finished booklet became more than an event program — it became a commemorative piece celebrating leadership, community, and transition.
